Group Audit is responsible for providing independent, objective assurance to the Board Audit Committee regarding the adequacy and effectiveness of the risk management and control frameworks of the Bank. This involves providing feedback to management on existing or proposed processes and controls, and recommendations for improvements to these. Group Audit works closely with senior management and staff across all divisions of the CBA Group, and the external auditors, but maintains independence as part of the corporate governance role.
The department consists of over 90 professional audit personnel who conduct internal audit reviews across the CBA group, and reviews of credit risk via the Portfolio Quality Assurance function

The Retail Network Assurance team is responsible for providing an independent assessment of internal controls within the RBS Network. This involves the performance of audits of Retail Branches, Personal Relationship Banking Centres, Mobile Banking Teams and Area Offices. The team comprises of 12 staff located across three main offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.
More specifically your main duties will include:
- Manage the development and execution of the Retail Network audit plan, ensuring timely delivery of high quality audit work, and sufficient coverage across the retail network with optimal value-add.
- Enhance the audit planing methodology and risk assessment techniques. Work with technical experts in Group Audit to develop advanced data analytic capability, including more dynamic audit plan management for "emerging risk” via the ongoing monitoring of key risk indicators across the Retail Network.
- Enhance the audit methodologies for the various review types, implementing industry best practice and deploying leading edge audit approaches including the use of Computer Assisted Audit Techniques.
- Manage the Retail Network Assurance team, driving a culture of high performance, and harnessing “team spirit” in light of the challenge of multi-office locations and the mobile nature of the audit work.
- Enhance team capability to support the achievement of leading edge practice in retail network assurance. This includes development of the team and individuals, strong talent management, succession planning, and recruitment of new talent as appropriate.
- Management and monitoring of team expenditure, ensuring this is appropriate and within agreed budget.
To be successful for this fantastic opportunity you must have:
- Finance / Accounting Qualification (CA, CPA etc)
Audit Management experience within the Financial Services industry (7+ years)
- Retail Banking experience and knowledge of the regulatory environment (Basel, AML etc)
- Experience of managing change / operational transformation / driving process improvement
- Experience of managing remote & multi-location teams
